Website Development
I have been a software and website developer for the last 15 years. Over this time I have seen quite a few web technologies come and go. I have had my fair share of good and bad relationships with certain software packages claiming that they are the one true web development package or they (the software) can do anything.
I will say now that no one piece of software does everything, I will even go as far to say that most software packages don’t even do what their website advertises they can do. With this in mind and my experiences behind me (and more in front of me), my approach to website development is simple.
I ask the customer what they want
I understand this may seem quite logical, though I have been in many, many software developer meetings where they (the developers) do what they want to do, not what the customer has asked for. So again my approach is to listen to a customer needs, direct them where I see necessary, and create websites that do one thing.
SELL PRODUCT
This may seem very materialistic and capitalist though this is usually the reason most people or companies want a website. A thing to remember is a product may be something like a toaster or a house, or otherwise it may be a service like taking people for a tour of the Wet Tropics, or some of my recent websites have been for sporting clubs, they still have a product (and a service), “good feelings” . It is still something to sell.
